Helen Uhlir, 88

Helen Ann Uhlir, 88, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault.

Born August 31, 1919, in Wheatland Township, Rice County, Helen was a daughter of Joseph and Emma (Ceplecha) Simon. She attended the Veseli Parochial School. On October 19, 1953, she married John Uhlir at the Holy Trinity Church in Veseli. She was a homemaker and also worked at Green Giant in Montgomery and Anthony's in New Prague for many years. Helen was a member of the Holy Redeemer CCW and the 1st Streeter's Club. She enjoyed cooking and baking.

She is survived by two brothers, Alois Simon, Veseli and Stanley (Adeline) Simon, New Prague; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 18, 1987; and two brothers, Joe & Ed Simon.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with Rev. David Barrett officiating.

Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery, with a CCW Rosary Service held at 4:15 p.m.
