Henry Holec, 75
Henry E. “Sonny” Holec, 75, of New Hope, formerly of New Prague, died on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society- Ambassador Nursing Home in New Hope.
Henry was born May 18, 1938, in New Prague, a son of Henry R. and Lucille M. (Lambrecht) Holec. He graduated from New Prague High School and served in the U.S. Navy Air Transport Squadron from 1959-1961. “Sonny” was an active man who enjoyed fishing, playing cards, polka and Johnny Cash music, and many activities with family and friends. Living most of his life in Minnesota, Sonny also ventured and lived in the south (Tennessee and Mississippi), where he learned to enjoy a good catfish feed and lakefront living. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by four children Henry “Vic” (Mary) Holec, Mendota Heights, Lucia Schmitz (and Craig Greenwald), Shakopee, Harold (Sheri) Holec, New Hope, and Doreen (Fred) Ciaramitaro, Leonard, MI; 10 grandchildren Megan, Eric, Patrick, Douglas, Adam, Gavin, Juliana, Wayne, Bob, and Sara; two greatgrandchildren Savanah and Judah; six siblings Clayton Holec, Ashland, MS, JoAnn (Harlen) Menk, Anoka, Don (Marion) Holec, McKinney, TX, Ken (Beth) Holec, Eden Prairie, Darlene Miller of Prior Lake, and Sue Knase, Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives Lucille Esberg Cornetet and Edith “Kitty” Kimberlin Holec; and a brother Joseph G. Holec.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 5, at 11 a.m., at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, with Rev. David Barrett officiating.
Interment will be held at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague, with military rites conducted.
Visitation will be held Monday from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
