High school hosts district spelling bee Saturday

The New Prague Area School District will hold its annual spelling bee Saturday, Feb. 2, at New Prague High School Auditorium.

This year, each school will have a separate competition, with awards given to the top three finishers in each school. Students in grades 5 through 8 at each school took a written test, with the top scorers qualifying for the bee.

The first-place winner from each school will have the opportunity to compete in the regional bee, which will be held Tuesday, Mar. 4, at South Central College in North Mankato.

Competition times for each of the schools are:

• Falcon Ridge Elementary, 8 a.m.

• Eagle View Elementary, 9:15 a.m.

• Raven Stream Elementary, 10:30 a.m.

• St. Wenceslaus School, 11:15 a.m.

• New Prague Middle School, 12:30 p.m.
