Highway 19 to get turn lanes east of city

 A problem intersection east of New Prague along Highway 19 will be going through some changes this fall.

At its Wednesday, July 5, meeting the New Prague City Council was informed that the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will be adding turn lanes to the highway near the Jeff Belzer’s Auto dealerships.

The work is scheduled to be done beginning in September and ending in October this year. City Planning Director Ken Ondich said traffic during Dozinky, New Prague’s harvest festival, will not be affected. Highway 19 will be open to traffic during Dozinky.

Crews will resurface Highway 19 beginning at the intersection with Alton Avenue on the east edge of New Prague, and then go east to the intersections with Le Sueur County Road 3 (141st Avenue) and Scott County Road 89 (Redwing Avenue).
