Hymnus trip to Italy was ‘Molto Bella’

Patrick Fisher, Staff Writer

Molto Bella.

That Italian phrase, which translates to very beautiful is how members of Hymnus would describe their recent trip to Italy. The local choir’s January 13-22 tour of Italy was filled with sites both beautiful to the eye and spirit.

Even before the group left the country for Italy, they had a little excitement. The majority of the 62 people going on the trip, 38 choir members, along with parents, spouses and others, flew out from Minneapolis to Atlanta. The rest of the group was supposed to meet them in Atlanta for the flight to Milan. Due to rough weather on the East Coast, some flights were delayed.

Mary Zard, Hymnus administrator and a member of the choir, said her son, Jacob Youngerberg, made the connecting flight with seconds to spare after a mad dash through the airport. Howard and Barbara Burns, parents and grandparents of members of Hymnus, caught up with the group in Italy late the first evening of the trip, after taking a connecting flight through Frankfurt, Germany.
