It's Dozinky Time

By Chuck Kajer

This weekend New Prague celebrates its annual Dozinky Festival.

This celebration of our ethnic and agricultural background had its start 22 years ago thanks to the vision of a group of community leaders. It continues today because of the dedication of those leaders and their successors.

There's a lot that goes into planning the Dozinky celebration. Staff and members of the New Prague Chamber of Commerce, along with a lot of volunteers, put much time and effort into making sure things are just right for the weekend's events. And when everything is done, they'll sit down and ask what worked, what can be improved, and start planning all over again for the 23rd annual celebration.

Most residents and visitors will come to New Prague and sample the food booths, see the displays and listen to the music of Dozinky and not put much thought into these efforts.

The Times takes this opportunity to thank everyone involved in making the Dozinky celebration a success. We won't even begin to list names or groups, because there are too many. We encourage people who come downtown for the celebration to thank the chamber staff for their hard work, and also to thank all the volunteers who are out there making another successful Dozinky Festival.
