James Svobodny, 51

James M. Svobodny, 51, of Minneapolis, formerly of Montgomery, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011.

Jim and his siblings all went to school in either Montgomery or New Prague. The family moved to the New Prague area in 1968, and to Minneapolis in 1986. Jim was a 1978 graduate of Montgomery-Lonsdale High School. His father, John Svobodny, was a teacher at Holy Redeemer School in Montgomery from approximately 1969-1973.

He is survived by children Jake and Jenny; stepmother Delores; siblings Marilyn Olson, Joan (Bob) Anderson, Mike (Jeanne), Dave (Monica), Joe (Nancy) and Steve. All survivors are currently residing in the Twin Cities area, except Steve, who lives in Michigan, and Mike (Jeanne), of Winona.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Verene (Haub) Svobodny.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and a christian service held from 7:30 to 8 p.m., at the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
