James VonBank, 79

James J. VonBank, 79, of Plymouth, formerly of New Prague, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, at the Mission Nursing Home in Plymouth.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 at 11:30 a.m. at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating. Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers will be his sons.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.

James was born October 14, 1927, at Jordan, a son of Lawrence and Catherine (Hennes) VonBank. He grew up in Jordan, attended Jordan Public School and was a resident of the Jordan/New Prague area. He was a laborer for Masonry Construction, a labor foreman for Mortenson Construction and a member of Minnesota Labor Local #563.

He is survived by his former wife, Rosemary VonBank, New Prague; 10 children, Stephen (Karen), New Prague, Linda (Ron) Deutsch, Illinois, Greg (Connie), Montgomery, Terry, New Prague, Sandy (Mark) Scheffler, New Prague, Tom (Jana), Savage, Diane Schmidt, Buffalo, Jeff, Northfield, Kevin (Carol), New Prague, and Bill, Prior Lake; two brothers, Eli (Helen) VonBank, Shakopee, and Lester (Ruth) VonBank, Apple Valley; 30 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy A. Simon; granddaughter, Candace Rose Simon; his parents; and a brother, Verididt VonBank.
