Janet Livingston, 78

Janet Ruth Livingston, 78, of Shakopee, formerly of New Prague, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at St. Gertrude’s Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Shakopee, surrounded by her family.

Janet was born on March 15, 1935, in Spencer, IA, a daughter of Earl Harlan and Anna Mary (Grimm) Rose. Her childhood years were spent growing up in Spencer, where she attended school. In her free time she loved to spend hours at the amusement park in Okoboji. Janet married Kenneth C. Livingston in Spencer, IA. Ken's job took them around the states for many years, with additional homes in Dickens, IA, Pine Island and finally settling down in New Prague in 1967. In later years, Janet lived in Savage, with the last four years in Shakopee. With a love for the outdoors, Janet tended to her flower and vegetable garden, and canned the fruits of her labor. She loved to entertain whoever knocked at her door. She was the gathering spot for the Chadwick ladies, and loved to play games. Janet loved to travel, with special memories of Branson, MO to see the shows and visits to the gulf in Mississippi. A talented artist, she taught ceramic classes out of her home for years. An avid Elvis fan, Janet loved anything Elvis-pictures, statues, beanie babies and even a lifesize cut out.

She is survived by children Michael Livingston, Webster, Randy Livingston, Prior Lake, and Lori (Greg) Schaumburg, Prior Lake; grandchildren Matthew Livingston, Sara Schaumburg and Dylan Schaumburg; great-grandchild Lucy Livingston; brother Harold (Jo Ann) Rose, South Carolina; sister-in-law Ellen Rose, Iowa; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Steve Livingston; her parents; and a brother Melvin Rose.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 13, at 4:30 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, all at McKenna Crossings, 13810 Shepherds Path, Prior Lake, with Chaplain Thomas Johnson presiding.

Interment will be at Medford, IA.
