Jean Malinski, 81

Jean F. Malinski, 81, of New Prague, died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.

Born January 27, 1928, in Minneapolis, Jean was a daughter of Gustave and Elizabeth (DeMuth) Anderson. She was born and raised in Minneapolis and moved to New Prague in 1947. She attended Minneapolis Public School and Minneapolis Vocational High School and married Joseph Francis Malinski on June 21, 1947, at Ascension Parish in Minneapolis. Jean worked as a seamstress in the bridal department of the Thomas Department Store in downtown Minneapolis and as a seamstress at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague for 10 years. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) and worked with Mittens To Go in New Prague.

She is survived by children Justine Malinski, Madison, WI, Julie (Gordon) Giles, Elko, Mary (Greg) Heil, New Prague, Joan (Wayne) Volk, Minneapolis, John (Patti Holden-Malinski), Webster, Jamine (J. Brian) Deal, Lake Crystal, Jim Malinski, Madison, WI and Jennifer (Jeff) Anderson, Lakeville; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on April 27, 2006; her parents; and siblings Geraldine Daugherty, Betty Thelen and Robert Anderson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 4, at 11 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren Julianne, Deborah, Philip, Luke, Matt, Anna, Ryan, Katie, Simon, Seth, Laura, Patrick, Sean and Alex, and great-grandchildren Ellen, Lydia, Emma and Frank.

Visitation was held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
