Jerome Schleis, 78
Jerome Edward Schleis, 78, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. Jerome was born September 20, 1934, on the home farm in rural Montgomery, a son of Edward and Mayme (Tuma) Schleis. He married Noreen Herschbach on April 16, 1966, in St. Paul. Jerome was an insurance agent in Montgomery for over 40 years. He proudly served as Le Sueur County commissioner from January 1976 to January 2001, and served on the Advisory Committee for Public Health 2001 to the present time. He was also a lifelong farmer and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his cats. He was very proud of his Czech heritage. Jerome was very active in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the community, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. He is survived by children Thomas (Denise) Schleis, Isanti, Kathy (Bob) Burrell, Olympia, WA, Denise (Bob) Wald, Plymouth, Darlene (Shane) Lines, Bloomington, and Margaret (Chris) Coley, Brooklyn Park. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a sister Rita Johnston. Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m., at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Burial was at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery. Visitation was held Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
