Jerome Vinger, 72

Jerome W. “Jerry” Vinger, 72, of New Prague, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee. Jerry was born on March 9, 1939, in Mauston, WI, a son of Malcolm and Arlyle (Feldwisch) Vinger.

He was raised in Wisconsin and Minnesota, and moved to New Prague in about 1950. He attended New Prague High School and Mankato State College, receiving a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education, specialist in administration. He married Loretta Kuzelka on March 29, 1969, in New Prague. Jerry worked as a teacher and principal for various schools throughout Minnesota, was a financial advisor with IDS Financial Services, and also served as manager of the New Prague Golf Course. He enjoyed games of chance, going to Mystic Lake, and visiting with old-timers at Simon’s Sportsmen’s Bar.

He is survived by his wife; three children Malcolm (Stephanie) Vinger II, Nowthen, Laura Vinger (Joe Libby), Fort Dodge, IA, and Heather Taylor DuCharme (Michael DuCharme), New Prague; two grandchildren Caitlyn and Madelyn Vinger, both of Nowthen; and a sister Caroline “Carol” (James) Finley, New Brighton.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 23, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague, with the Rev. Dr. Steve Trewartha officiating.

Interment was at the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague. Urn bearer was Jerry’s son Malcolm II.

Visitation was held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Arrangements were with the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague
