Jerry J. Bainter, 78

JERRY J. BAINTER, age 78 of Elysian, died at his home on Thursday, February 16, 2017.

Born in Des Moines, IA on September 5, 1938, Jerry was the son of Jesse and Trella (Belcher) Bainter.  He attended school at East High School in Des Moines and later went on to serve in the National Guard.  He married Janet Ferrell and together they raised their family.  Jerry was a gifted mechanic and worked in the auto industry all his life.

Jerry is survived by seven children, Monte Bainter of Elysian, Kirby Bainter of Cleveland, OH, Kelly Brooks of Lake Park, GA, Troy Bainter of Albany, GA, Heidi Johnson of Sylvester, GA, Jay Bainter of Des Moines, IA, and Katie Black of Dallas, TX; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bert (Ralph) Dyer of Elysian; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife, Janet; one son, Bryan; three brothers, Floyd, Harvey, and Bob; and four sisters, Pauline, Hazel, Clara, and Daisy.

 Funeral services will be held in Georgia at a later date.  Jerry will be interred with his wife, Janet.  Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville is handling the arrangements.  dennisfuneralhomes.com
