JoAnn K. Helling, 85
JoAnn K. Helling, 85, of rural Le Sueur, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Horizon Place in Le Center.
JoAnn was born December 27, 1927, in Mankato, a daughter of Morgan and Lucy (Hardegger) Lloyd. She was a Cleveland High School graduate and also attended Mankato State and Mankato Community College. She married Millerd Helling in St Peter on August 21, 1950. JoAnn worked at ASCS (Farm Service Agency) in Le Center, and then St. Peter as a program assistant for 35 years. She was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Thrift Store, enjoyed card playing, watching Twins and Timberwolves games, gardening, raising her children, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by children Bonnie (Don) Reak, Le Center, Kathy (Tim) O’Keefe, Chanhassen, John (and fiancée Lori O’Keefe), Montgomery, Nancy (Rusty) Tiede, Le Center, and Mark Helling, Cleveland; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law Arden Helling, Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son James; grandson Matthew Helling; siblings Sally Michels and John Lloyd; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, July 16, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center.
Burial was at Elim Welsh Cemetery in rural Le Sueur.
Visitation was held at the Le Center Funeral Home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m., and Tuesday at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.
