JoAnn M. Malz, 63

JoAnn M. Malz, 63 of Jordan, died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine after a long courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Born on February 3, 1954, JoAnn was the daughter of Emil and Adeline (Novotny) Pecholt.  She was born in New Prague and attended primary school at St Wenceslaus Catholic School and then graduated from New Prague High School.  JoAnn married Alan Malz on March 10, 1973, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jordan.  They were blessed with 3 children, Jenny, Jodi and Jason and raised their family in the Jordan area. JoAnn’s primary focus was on her husband and children, attending to their various needs and running their household.  However, after the children were grown and gone, she kept busy cleaning at MVEC and local banks.  JoAnn loved going up north to the camper, fishing and four-wheeling.  She also enjoyed shopping and spending time with her mother-in –law.  JoAnn was very faithful going to church every Sunday; never missing a Sunday Service.

JoAnn is survived by her husband, Alan of Jordan;  children, Jenny (Steve) Young of Jordan, Jodi (Dean) Sengstock of Shakopee, and Jason of Jordan, grandchildren; Zach, Dylan and Logan Young, Blake and Ella Sengstock and Ryan Malz, brothers, Emil (Pat) Pecholt, Joe (Betty) Pecholt and Mark Pecholt and sister, Mary (Gregg) Westerhaus.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Adeline Pecholt and mother and father in law, Edward and Emeline Malz. 

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:30am at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jordan with a visitation 1 1/2 hours prior to the Service with Pastor Jeremy Glowicki officiating.   A Luncheon will follow the funeral service at the church.  Burial at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.

Funeral Arrangements are with the Wagner Funeral Home of Jordan.
