John Dvorak, 81
John Donald “Moe” Dvorak, 81, of Prior Lake, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Minneapolis.
Moe was born on June 11, 1931, in Montgomery, a son of of W.J. and Sophia (Rynda) Dvorak. After his formative years in Montgomery, he served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955, and later graduated from St. John’s University at Collegeville in 1957. Moe was an accomplished athlete, and fondly remembered his years playing football at St. John’s under Hall of Fame inductees Johnny “Blood” McNally and John Gagliardi. He married Mercedes Weidner in 1957, and spent the next 30 years working for Sears, Roebuck and Co. He retired as merchandise manager at the Merle Hay Sears Store in Urbandale, IA, in 1987.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers Robert, Montgomery, and Earl, Bloomington, IN; children Brian (Debra), Spencer, IA, Sharon (Jim) Spillman, Eagan, Lou Ann Dvorak (husband Mike Routt), Prior Lake, and Bruce (Susie), Yorba Linda, CA; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers Lyle, Clarence, Alvin, Clayton and William, and a sister Janet Haupt.
