Johnson accepts offer to become NP city administrator

Michael Johnson has accepted an offer from the city of New Prague to become its new administrator.

Johnson was selected last week from four candidates who interviewed with the city. The city's consulting firm, the Brimeyer Group, was authorized to begin negotiations on a contract. Johnson, who formerly was city administrator in Marshall, signed the contract on Friday, June 27.

New Prague Mayor Bink Bender said the city council still needs to formally approve the contract. A special meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 30, at city hall.

If approved, Johnson will begin his duties on Monday, July 21. He will succeed Jerry Bohnsack, who has held the position for more than 30 years. He informed the city he would be resigning in July. No final date has been set for Bohnsack, however, an open house is being planned at city hall on Wednesday, July 23.
