Julia Girard qualifies for state speech meet

Julia Girard, a junior at New Prague High School, has qualified for this weekend’s State Speech Competition. The class AA meet will be held Friday at Bloomington Jefferson High School. Girard competes in the humorous interpretation category, with a cutting of Shel Silverstein's ABZ Book.

Girard, has been on the New Prague speech team since seventh grade. She has won many medals and trophies this season, and placed third at the Section 2AA competition at Mankato West. Her final round scores were the best of all the competitors, but scores from the preliminary rounds were included in determining placement.
