Julia Herda, 97
Julia Veronica Herda, 97, of New Prague, died on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.
She was born in Veseli to Martin and Veronica (Dvorak) Malecha on January 12, 1909.
Julia was married to Frank W. Herda in Veseli on May 21, 1929. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rosary Society.
She is survived by her children: Donna (James) DeGrood, Charlotte (William) Borwege, Patricia (Myron) Hrabe, Francis (Mary Ann) Maynard (Bonnie), David (Joan) and Tom (special friend, Sharon Spartz) Herda, and Carol (Jerry) LeMieux; 35 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; brothers, Edward, Frank, George, Joseph, William, Bohumil and John Malecha; sisters, Otilia Vosejpka, Cecelia Skluzacek and Bessie Machacek; and daughter-in-law, Donna Herda.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. Rev. Michael Sauber officiated.
Pallbearers were James Borwege, Chris Hrabe, Ryan LeMieux, David Jr., Anthony and Jerry Herda, Barb Donahue and Thomas DeGrood.
Visitation was held at White Funeral Home in Lonsdale from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to the Mass with prayers said by the Rosary Society at 4:30 p.m. and a prayer service held at 6 p.m. on Monday.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale.
