Katherine Worm, 93

Katherine Frances Worm, 93, of Jordan, died on Friday, August 14, 2009, at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.

Born on August 21, 1915, she was a daughter of George and Mary (Lucas) Mais. Katherine married Joseph August Worm on June 9, 1937, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan. She was a dedicated Catholic, passionate gardener, extremely hard

worker, crafter and excellent cook. Flower and vegetable gardening were her passion. Her farm was known as the Fall Flower Farm because of the acre of flowers she would tend to every day. She donated fresh produce each year to the church festival. Katherine loved to cook and visit with anyone who would

stop to visit. She enjoyed playing cards and embroidering dish towels, and then donated the towels to family,

friends and to the church and various other organizations. She also enjoyed mending, even for the nurses at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home. Up until a year ago she still made homemade laundry soap and rendered lard. She was a member of the Catholic Aid since 1937. In past years she was a member of the Homemakers Association, a part of the Minnesota Extension Office.

She is survived by a son David (Anita) Worm, Jordan; grandchildren Daryl (Jodi) Worm, Crawfordsville, IN, Dale Buddha (Lynn) Worm, Jordan, Dean (fiancee Felicia Henry) Worm, Jordan; grandson-in-law Wayne Adkins, Jordan; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; granddaughter Dawn Adkins; her parents; and a brother Alfred Fritz Mais.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, August 18, at 11 a.m., at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan, with Rev. Timothy Yanta officiating.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Jordan. Pallbearers were Marlo Schroeder, Marty Huss, Jim Worm, Alexander Worm, Joe Worm and Pat O'Boyle.

Visitation was held Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Jordan, and one hour prior to the mass at church.
