Kathryn Hammes, 23
Kathryn M. Katie Hammes, 23, of Jordan, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at The Lodge on Natchez Hospice in Elko.
Born March 22, 1985, at Waconia, Katie was a daughter of William J. and Diane (Grannis) Hammes. She was a lifelong resident of New Prague, attended New Prague Elementary and High School and graduated in 2003. She was a member of 4-H and Girl Scouts. Katie fought a seven-year battle with an eating disorder.
She is survived by her parents; siblings Erin Hammes, Jordan and Joseph Hammes, Jordan; grandparents Dorothy Hammes, Spring Valley and John and Marjorie Grannis, Belle Plaine; and great-grandmother Irene Grannis, Mankato.
She was preceded in death by a sister Laura Hammes in infancy; and grandfather William G. Hammes.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 28, at 11 a.m., at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague, with Rev. Steve Trewartha and Rev. Diane Odermann officiating.
Interment was at the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers were cousins Jeff Sickle, Matt Sickle, Ben Martin, Jon Martin, Jared Grannis, Alec Grannis and Adam Jeurissen.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
