Kenneth Sticha, 82

Kenneth W. Sticha, 82, of Faribault, died Sunday, August 5, 2007, at his home following a six-week battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church at St. Lawrence in Faribault, with Rev. Michael Kaluza, associate pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation was held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Parish prayers were held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kenneth Wenceslaus Sticha, the son of James and Mary Sticha, was born on January 21, 1925, in Lonsdale. He was raised in Lonsdale where he attended elementary school. He later graduated from the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf in 1942. Kenny married Blanche Waskosky on September 16, 1947, at St. Lawrence Church in Faribault. He worked for Marigold Dairy for 10 years and operated his own milk route for two years. He then worked for McQuay's International, Jostens, Minnesota State Academy for the Blind and at Mercury Minnesota for 13 years. He worked for a short time at District One Hospital before the Faribault State Hospital, where was employed for 17 years. Most recently, Kenny worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart for 14 years until the age of 80. He loved polka music, antiquing, garage sales and remodeling his homes. He and Blanche were collectors and went to many Twins games to collect the bobbleheads. Kenny enjoyed reading history and biography books and was involved in politics, attending many caucuses. He was a former member of the Faribault Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Patricia (Ken) Hokeness, Shakopee, Paul (Carmen) Sticha, Columbia, SC, Perry Sticha, Eden Prairie, and Percy (Amy) Sticha, Crestview, FL; six grandchildren, Andrea Hokeness, Erika (Greg) Willkomm, Marin Hokeness (Shaun Biggers) and their son, Charleston, McAllister Sticha, Zachary Sticha and Amber Sticha; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter in infancy, Nanice Marie; and six siblings, Emma Dols, Theodore Sticha, Leonard Sticha, Helen David, Fillup Sticha and Lillian Warnemunde.
