Le Sueur Co. approves solid waste licenses

Several solid waste license applications for 2013 were approved by the Le Sueur County Board as part of its meeting agenda for Tuesday, April 23.

Presented for approval by Amy Beatty, the county environmental programs specialist, the licenses are renewed or granted each year with various fees required. In many cases, there are also insurance and bonding requirements.

The following licenses are granted through the environmental office:

City Facilities-Cities requesting licenses to operate composting facilities are Cleveland, Le Center, Le Sueur, Montgomery and St. Peter (to be relocated).

The City of Le Center also operates a recycling facility open to all county residents, and a truck for collection and transport of solid waste and recyclable materials.

Collection & Transportation- Companies licensed to collect and transport solid waste in the county include Hansen Sanitation, Kasota, four trucks; Lakers New Prague Sanitary, New Prague, four trucks; LJP Enterprises, St. Peter, 13 trucks; Waste Management of Minnesota, Mankato, 19 trucks.

Recycling Facility-Companies licensed to operate a recycling facility in the county include Barnett Brothers, Kilkenny; Fessel’s Wood Recycling Services, Waterville; Hansen Recycling and Transfer Station, Kasota; Selly Excavating, Le Center; Waste Management of Minnesota, Mankato.

Transfer Station-Waste Management of Minnesota, Mankato.

Upcoming Events Saturday, June 15-Annual Tire, Appliance and Electronics Collection Day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the county highway department in Le Center.

Thursday, Sept. 19-Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Collection Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City of Le Center Wastewater Treatment Facility in Le Center.
