Le Sueur Co. Board gets history lesson

By Jake Keohen, Montgomery Messenger

The Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners held a workshop on historical society organization and operations following its regular meeting Tuesday, Feb. 1.

The workshop was primarily a listening session, with a representative of the Minnesota Historical Society addressing issues related to society goals and how they might be reached.

State society representatives David Grabitske, manager of outreach services, and Melinda Hutchinson, grants & field programs associate, attended the session at the request of the county board, which is looking for direction in how it might help return the county society into a functioning organization representing all Le Sueur County residents - with funding from the county budget.

County Board Chairman John Grimm opened the workshop by stating, The Le Sueur County Society is no longer being funded by this board because it has become dysfunctional. We are here to listen and learn
