The Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners held a lengthy discussion on a CSAH 29/CR 144 engineering feasibility study in the New Prague area with officials from that community at its regular meeting held Tuesday, May 3 at the courthouse in Le Center.
The discussion with City Administrator Jerry Bohnsack and Mayor Craig Sindelar came during the highway department report, presented to the board monthly by County Engineer Darrell Pettis.
The feasibility study, prepared by Bolton & Menk, Inc., consulting engineers & surveyors, was requested and financed by the city since a large residential development is planned on the north side of CSAH 29 from its intersection with CR 144 toward the east. Engineer Pettis said 92 lots have been platted for the area in question.
The engineering study put an estimated price tag of $1.4 million for improvements to #29 and other infrastructure in the urban development.
Engineer Pettis said he and Commissioner Terry Hayes, who represents the district, have met with New Prague officials concerning the planning for the area. The city has been great to work with and we appreciate the cooperation and good relationship between city and county
