Le Sueur Co. to combine auditor, treasurer positions

The Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution during its Tuesday, Oct. 20, meeting which will consolidate the elective offices of county auditor and county treasurer into one position effective January 1, 2010.

Current County Auditor Ron Germscheid, who has expressed his intention to resign from his position effective December 31, said the consolidation is allowed by state statute, requiring a resolution of the county board.

County Treasurer Joe Boettcher has served in his position for 23 years, and he has expressed his willingness and desire to serve Le Sueur County as its auditor-treasurer. His new position will be up for election in November 2010, along with all other elective offices.

This is an ideal time for the consolidation and it should be done
