Le Sueur County commissioners approve four Conditional Use Permits

The Le Sueur County Board approved four applications for conditional use permits as requested by planning and zoning at its regular meeting Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Planning and Zoning Administrator Kathy Brockway presented the following applications:

— Gary & Dianna Gilbert, Le Sueur (applicant/owner), a CUP to construct a 3-car detached garage with an apartment for the purposes of a temporary dwelling for more than one year in an agricultural district of Tyrone Township.

— Pat Korinek, Jordan (applicant/owner), a CUP to construct a single-family dwelling in an ag residential district of Kilkenny Township.

— Mary & Jeanne Miller, Kasota (applicant/owner), a CUP to grant a final plat consisting of a 9-lot subdivision to be known as “Beyond the Pines” in a urban/rural residential district of Kasota Township.

— Jared Ratzloff, Prior Lake (applicant), Don & Carrie Pearson, New Prague (owner), a CUP to operate a riding academy and stable in an ag district of Derrynane Township.

Also at Tuesday's meeting:

• The board approved the recommendations of Personnel Coordinator Peggy Donovan to hire Lauren Klement, environmental resource specialist in the environmental services department; Nicolas Cesafsky as a full-time jailer/dispatcher in the sheriff’s department; and Scott O’Brien as a full-time temporary jailer/dispatcher in the sheriff’s department.

• Following a discussion with Human Services Director Sue Rynda, the board approved by consensus that department budgeting for an additional financial worker in 2006. Rynda said the caseload for the financial assistance unit continues to increase.

• Following a discussion with County Recorder Dave Sexe concerning an increased work load in his department and his desire to budget for filling an open position in 2006, no action was taken by the board.

• The board approved funding of $4,000 to the South Central MN Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) after discussing the need with Katie Klanderud, director, and Tom Helfter, coordinator. The South Central MN RSVP serves Blue Earth, Brown, Le Sueur, Nicollet, Waseca and Watonwan counties and has experienced large funding decreases at both the state and federal level over the past three years.

• The board was reminded of the CSAH 15/CR 144 Corridor Study Open House scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 1, from 4:30 to 7 p.m.at the Lanesburgh Township Hall on Highway 13.
