Legion team faces South St. Paul in playoffs
New Prague will face South St. Paul in a best-of-three playoff series to open the Third District American Legion Playoffs.
New Prague, with an 18-5 record, received the No. 6-seed in the 32-team field. Games are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. New Prague will host Friday's game at Union Hill Field, since the New Prague park is being used for a D-R-S game. Saturday's game is at South St. Paul and Sunday's, if necessary, will be at Memorial Park in New Prague.
First round winners enter a 16-team double-elimination tournament Wednesday, July 26, through Sunday, July 30, in Burnsville.
If New Prague wins the opening series, they open the tournament on Wednesday against either Farmington or Shakopee.
The top three teams in the Third District playoffs will compete in the State Tournament in Excelsior August 3-6.
