Lenny Chlan, 70

On Sunday, September 10th, 2017 Lenny hit a home run. The spectators cheered through many tears. Lenny’s biggest fans were his wife, Barb (Madson); mother, Harriet Chlan of Montgomery; children, Lori (Joel) Fogarty of Montgomery, Eric (Michelle) Chlan of Maple Lake, and Teri (Sebastian) Chandler of Lonsdale; 7 grandchildren, Alyssa (Dustin) Shank, Justin and Grant Fogarty, Brolin, Adler, and Whitler Chlan, and Braydon Chandler; siblings, David (Deb) Chlan of Clayton, WI., Linda (Jerry) Weltzin of Zumbro Falls, and Michael (Traci) Chlan of Watkinsville, GA; many other relatives and friends.
 
Lenny got his big break on May 19th, 1947 in New Prague to Raymond and Harriet (Shambour). He graduated Montgomery High School in 1965. Lenny was drafted by Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis 1967.
 
On July 18th, 1970, Lenny signed a contract with his lifetime agent in Holy Matrimony to Barb Madson at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Lenny started his baseball career with IBEW 292 Electrical Union and was happy to be a part of the construction team of the IDS tower and Lowry Tunnel in Mpls. Lenny was a Master Electrician and owned and operated his own electrical business for 10 yrs.  Lenny retired from Sheldahl in 2013 as maintenance electrician after 20 yrs.
 
Above all innings, his favorite was time spent with his grandchildren who all know him best as Papa. He also greatly enjoyed volunteering with the Montgomery Food Shelf and Knights of Columbus.
 
Lenny was inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside his father, Raymond Chlan.
 
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday September 14th, 2017 at Holy Redeemer Church Montgomery.  Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the funeral at church. Father Victor Valencia will be officiating. Private burial will be done at later date.
