Leona “Lee” Wilkins, 86
Leona “Lee” Wilkins, 86, a longtime resident of Rochester, formerly of New Prague, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Three Links Care Center in Northfield.
Leona was born November 9, 1926, in New Prague. She went to Rochester in 1946 to work as a nursing assistant at Saint Mary’s Hospital. She married Harvey George Wilkins on May 4, 1948, in Iowa. In the late 1950s she returned to work at Waters Conley. The job she liked most was dining hall supervisor at Rochester State Hospital, where she worked until the hospital closed. She then worked at the JC Penney restaurant and Barlow’s Restaurant. She loved to spend time in her garden and was very close with her two granddaughters.
She is survived by a son Colby, Edina; granddaughters Tia Wilkins Senenfelder, Plymouth, and Evy Wilkins, San Francisco, CA; greatgrandson Memphis Colby James Senenfelder; siblings Ray and Emil Moran, New Prague, and Stacie Quinelle, Northfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and siblings Emily Irene Rogers and Leonard Robert Moran.
Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester, with Rev. Mark McNea officiating.
Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements were with Macken Funeral Home in Rochester.
