Leona M. Mager, 81

Leona M. Mager, 81, of Le Center, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the St. Peter Community Hospital.

Born February 21, 1925, in Scott County, Leona was a daughter of Martin and Catherine (Michel) Neisen. She married Raymond Mager on November 14, 1944, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Union Hill. She was a homemaker and a resident of the Le Center area for 60 years. Leona was a member of the St. Joseph’s CCW and Le Sueur County Pioneer Power. She taught religion for both St. Joseph’s in Lexington and St. Mary’s in Le Center. She enjoyed quilting, furniture refinishing, gardening, cards and her family.

She is survived by daughters, Barbara (Danny) Boisen, Le Sueur, Diane Wells, Eagan and Cheryl Doty, Chanhassen; sons, David (Pat) Mager, Le Center, Clarence (Debi) Mager, Le Center and Raymond Mager, Jr., Minnesota Lake; sisters, Viola Weiers, New Prague, Lucille Schmitz, New Prague and Gertrude (Richard) Meger, Le Center; 15 grandchildren, Bradley (Anne) Boisen, Julie (Vince) Ryan, Gina (Jamie) Worm, Eric (Karolina) Jackson, Jackson, Laura, Carolyn, Brent, Christopher, Matthew and Jennifer Mager, Anne (Josh) Graham, Jonathan, Melissa and Jeffrey Doty and Holly (Ross) Vinkemeier; and 15 great-grandchildren, Grace, Faith, Peace, Standard, Watchman, Hope, Able, Mercy, Given, Haley, Keegan, Evan, Thor, Alexander and Katelyn; sisters-in-law, Betty Neisen, Belle Plaine, Vergie Mager, Belle Plaine, Veronica Battig, St. Peter, Bernie (Joe) Mager, Belle Plaine and Mary Ann Terwedo, New Prague; brothers-in-law, Andrew Mager, Belle Plaine, Leonard Mager, Faribault and Ambrose Mager, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Cyrilla Klinkhammer; and three brothers, Bert, Steven and Norbert Neisen.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lexington, with Rev. Richard Roedel officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Lexington. Pallbearers were grandsons, Bradley Boisen, Eric Jackson, Brent Mager, Christopher Mager, Jonathan Doty, Jeffrey Doty and Matthew Mager.

Visitation was held Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center, and Monday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., also at the funeral home.
