Leonard R. Lukes, 78
Leonard R. Lukes, 78, of Montgomery, a long-time New Prague area resident, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery, with the Rev. Cory Rohlfing officiating. Burial will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery west of Montgomery.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
Leonard Robert Lukes was born August 15, 1927 in Lanesburgh Township. He was a son of Frank and Ann (Konicek) Lukes. He attended country school and later married Elsie Holey on November 21, 1950 at the Holy Rosary Church in North Mankato. Leonard owned an auto salvage yard in New Prague for 37 years. He was a Knights of Columbus member for 25 years and enjoyed working at the salvage yard and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Robert (Brenda) Lukes of New Prague, Ronald Lukes of Montgomery and Richard Lukes of Blaine; a sister, Evelyn (James) Glader of Inver Grove Heights; a brother, Frank Lukes of Morristown; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Irene Gritche and Dorothy (Gerald) Sweeney; and a grandson, Bradley Lukes.
