Leonard Ziskovsky, 72

Leonard C. Ziskovsky, 72, of New Prague, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Leonard was born at Veseli on November 4, 1938, a son of Edward J. and Ludmilla (Pavek) Ziskovsky. Born and raised in the Veseli/New Prague area, he attended Veseli School and New Prague High School. Leonard served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1961. He was a mechanic for Boeing in Seattle, WA, after his discharge, and then worked for Hitchcock Industries in Bloomington. He married Carol Volk on November 28, 1964, in Harvey, ND. They lived in Minneapolis for nine years, and in 1972 moved to Cromwell, living there until 1999, when they moved to New Prague. He had also worked as a school bus driver in Cromwell for 28 years. Leonard was a member of the New Prague Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife; siblings Edward Ziskovsky, Fridley, Rose (Mahlon) Pikal, Montgomery, and Dorothy (Don) Geiger, New Prague; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother George J. Ziskovsky.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 20, at 10 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. David Barrett officiating.

Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Pallbearers were Gary, Roger and Tom Pikal, Kenneth, Allan and David Geiger.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
