Library asks area residents to share their culture

Scott County Libraries are inviting area residents to share their cultural heritage.

In March, all seven branches will be recognizing the ever-increasing array of cultures, languages, and customs in Scott County with a month-long celebration called Many Cultures: The Changing Face of Scott County.

The library is currently planning events, materials and displays for this March event. Residents who have a story, photographs, talent (such as music, dance, or other entertainment), household or decorative objects, or anything of interest from their cultural heritage, are asked to consider sharing it with the library and its customers.

Library staff wants to recognize the contributions of new arrivals and immigrants, Native American cultures, and older, established immigrant communities. With these exhibits and events, the library will celebrate the many rich histories that make up Scott County and look forward to the one future shared by all.
