Lillian Schoenecker, 96
Lillian A. Schoenecker, 96, of New Prague, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.
Lillian was born February 9, 1912, at Union Hill, a daughter of Joseph J. and Angela (Lochen) Busch. She attended Union Hill Elementary School and New Prague High School until her mother became ill. On August 20, 1940, Lillian married Adolph H. Schoenecker at St. John's Catholic Church in Union Hill. She cooked at school, worked for John Jasan at the sewing factory, was a farm housewife and cleaned house for others. She was a member of Catholic Aid and St. John's Altar Society and was a 4-H Leader. She loved to bowl, belonging to a team sponsored by the New Prague Creamery. Lillian played the organ at St. John's for 30 years and also directed the choirs. She liked to play cards, loved bingo, enjoyed singing to her grandchildren and always had the candy dish full.
She is survived by a son Thomas M. Schoenecker, New Prague; sister-in-law Maxine Busch, Edina; six grandchildren Rebecca (Mohamed) Darif, San Diego, CA, Deborah (John) Dvorak, Sauk Rapids, Deanna McSorley, Tipton, England, Thomas A. (Katrice) Schoenecker, Belle Plaine, Laura (Allen) Hennen, Jordan and Jarrod Schoenecker, St. Paul; and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on February 20, 1973; her parents; granddaughter Cynthia Schoenecker; daughter-in-law Doreen Schoenecker; siblings Ferdinand, Otto, Joe W., Werner, Robert, Nick, Walter, Adelbert, Antoinette Seurer and Winnifred Turek.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church in Union Hill, with Rev. Elgar Bockenfeld, O.F.M., officiating.
Interment was at St. John's Cemetery, Union Hill. Casketbearers were Thomas Schoenecker Jr., Jarrod Schoenecker, Jeff Dvorak, Josh Dvorak, Jacob Hindermann and George Ruhland.
Visitation was held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague. A parish rosary was held at 7 p.m. Friday.
