Lloyd Ambroz, 87

Lloyd Ambroz, age 87, of New Prague, died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, August 7, 2017, at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.

Lloyd was born on May 2, 1930, in Heidelberg to Frank A. and Josephine (Maxa) Ambroz. He attended Le Sueur County District School in Heidelberg. He served with the US Army in the artillery in the Korean War from August 1951 to August 1953. Before deployment, he married Evelyn Svoboda on January 19, 1952, in Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. Lloyd was employed by Hayden & Murphy Equipment in Bloomington as a heavy equipment mechanic for 29 years. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He took pride in his lawn and garden. Playing cards with friends provided many hours of enjoyment but time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was the highlight of his leisure activities. After retirement, Lloyd took up smoking fish and making willow baskets, giving both to family and friends and donating many of the baskets to St. Wenceslaus Church.

Lloyd is survived by his children, Ann Christy of New Prague, Diane Ambroz of Shakopee, John Ambroz of Prior Lake, Paul (Darla) Ambroz of New Prague; sisters, Marge Renneberg of Sand Pt., Idaho, Patricia Mayerhoffer of Jordan, June (Sid) Thibado of Aurora, MN; sister-in-law, Patricia Ambroz of Lonsdale; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, on April 1, 2017; parents; brothers, Robert, Eugene, and Leonard Ambroz; sisters, Rosemary Neisen and Irene Benson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Dave Barrett officiating. Visitation will take place Friday from 4 – 8 PM and Saturday morning from 7:30 – 9:30 at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial will occur at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
