Lois Hoppe, 70

Lois Hoppe, 70, of Gaylord, died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.

Lois Mae Hoppe was born on October 19, 1935, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Carl and Esther (Truhn) Thorsen. She received her education in Baldwin, WI, and was a 1953 graduate of Baldwin High School.

Lois was united in marriage to Elroy Hoppe on November 5, 1955, at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Mountville), Dryden Township, Sibley County. After their marriage, they farmed north of Gaylord. Lois and Elroy shared 50 years of marriage.

Lois was employed as an administrative assistant at Hands, Incorporated in Winthrop for almost 30 years, until she retired in 2001. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, cross stitching, sewing, e-mailing family and friends, was an avid Twins fan and volunteered at Gaylord Lakeview Home. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, of Gaylord; children, Randy (Terri) Hoppe, Le Sueur, Mark Hoppe, Burnsville, Allen Hoppe, Gaylord, and Jodi (Scott) Ricketts, Waseca; grandchildren, Jordan Hoppe, Tanner Ricketts and Conner Ricketts; step-grandchildren, Ellen Roiger and Owen Poole; brothers and sisters, Lloyd (Marcella) Thorsen, Montgomery, Elton (Donna) Thorsen, Savage, Beverly (Jack) Richter, New Prague and Jacqueline (Milo) Uecker, Bird Island; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Thorsen of Buhl, ID, and Ruth (Milton) Uecker, Glencoe; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Warren Thorsen.

Funeral service were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at St. John’s Lutheran Church (Mountville), Dryden Township, Sibley County, with Rev. Harold Storm officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date.

Casket bearers were Jeffrey Uecker, Rodney Uecker, Ronald Uecker, Dale Kopel, Bradley Thorsen, and Scott Duffney.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 to 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. Visitation continued one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Arrangements were with the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.
