Lonsdale continues talks with Waste Management

The Lonsdale City Council meeting Thursday began with a brief update on the recent garbage contract decision.
Mayor Tim Rud explained that City Attorney Annette Margarit revised her legal advice to the city council and now discourages them from sending out Requests For Proposals (RFP’s).
Rud said that she questioned the legality of opening the service to bids after further review of the contract between the city and Novak Sanitation, now owned by Waste Management.
Based on the information, the city council voted to renegotiate with Waste Management for carts, with the option of continued blue bag service.
