It was not something the Lonsdale City Council had anticipated, but the progress of the new library to be opened as part of The Villages of Lonsdale recently ceased because grant applications to pay for automation and start-up costs were denied by the State of Minnesota.
This caused the council to face a difficult decision: to fund the $35,000 startup with taxpayer dollars, or to wait, stagnating the library project indefinitely.
At the regular meeting of the council held Thursday, June 25, the city council approved a resolution to transfer $35,000 from the General Fund reserves.
