Lonsdale man dies in crash near New Prague

An 80-year-old Lonsdale man died Friday, April 2, from injuries suffered in a two-car crash northeast of New Prague. Emil Sticha was driving a 2006 Dodge pickup northbound on Redwing Avenue (Scott County Road 89) at approximately 2 p.m. when he collided with a 1999 Ford Mustang driven by Rafael Urzua, 30, of New Prague. The crash occurred at the intersection of Redwing and 260th Street (Scott County Road 2). According to the Scott County Sheriff's Office, witnesses said Sticha went through the stop sign on Redwing and struck the other vehicle, then rolled into the ditch on the northeast corner of the intersection. Sticha was taken to Queen of Peace Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Urzua suffered no apparent injuries. The Scott County Sheriff's Office and the Medical examiner are investigating. New Prague Police, New Prague Ambulance and the New Prague Fire Department responded to the call.
