Lonsdale opens filing for mayor and city council

The filing period for mayor and two city council seats on the Lonsdale City Council opened on Tuesday, July 30, and will continue for two weeks, ending Tuesday, August 13.

Affidavits of candidacy are available at Lonsdale City Hall between normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for August 12, when affidavits of candidacy will be available until 5 p.m.

The mayor position is a two-year term and each council member position is a four-year term.

Lonsdale Mayor Tim Rud said he is running for re-election. If elected, this would be his sixth term as Mayor of Lonsdale.

“We have a lot of exciting things going on,” he said, naming the development and recruitment of the business park, the development of the park system and the Area 5 street project as reasons to want to continue as mayor.

City council members Scott Pelava and Joe Daleiden are also up for re-election. Both stated they are undecided at this time on whether or not to run again.
