The Lonsdale Area Chamber of Commerce presented its second annual Lonsdale Showcase to packed crowds, Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Lonsdale American Legion.

The Showcase featured exhibitors representing home and garden, health and wellness, finance, restaurants, food, gifts, hobbies, automotive, services, clubs, schools and preschools.

The Showcase featured 44 booths, and could have used more if space had allowed. According to Barb Cole, President of the Lonsdale Chamber of Commerce, there were several people on a waiting list prior to Saturday who wanted to be part of the show. Instead of turning them away, Cole said some of the registered businesses shared their booths. The grand total of exhibitors, Cole said was 57, up from 45 from last year.

Carol Dietz, owner of Custom Cuts by Carol, said this year’s showcase was “awesome and bigger” than last year’s that drew an estimated 470 people.

In addition to booths from area businesses one booth permitted Lonsdale people to meet Greig Glover, MD and Jordan Sterrer, MD, the new physicians at the Family Health Medical Clinic of Lonsdale.

According to Scott Richardson, Director of Community Relations for the clinic’s parent Northfield Hospital, the plans for the clinic slowed recently when construction bids came back higher than expected.

He said the clinic still plans to open this summer, however it may not be in its final form.

“We may use a modular unit until the building is complete,” Richardson said.

In addition to the variety of booths, entertainment was furnished by Center Stage Dance, a talent show from Montgomery-Lonsdale Schools, Betsy’s School of Dance, and the Czech Area Concertina Club.
