Mach will step down from Chamber position

Kristy Mach, executive director of the New Prague Chamber of Commerce, has announced that she will be stepping down from her duties by the end of the year.

            Mach, who has been with the Chamber for six years, said she has decided that it is time for her to move on with her career and seek a job with the private sector.

            "The Chamber Board held its annual retreat last week (October 9), and I felt that as they began planning for the next year, it would be best to tell them of my plans," she said. "I would not feel comfortable entering the job market without the board knowing my intentions."

            During Mach's tenure, a number of new events were added to the organization's schedule, including having the Chamber take sole ownership of the Business and Community Expo, expansion of the Holiday Parade to include a celebration at Memorial Park with fireworks, a summer concert, addition of a 5K, and 10K race and Kid’s Fun Run to the Half-Marathon and more.

            She said she will be leaving on good terms with the Chamber. "I absolutely love my work and I'm passionate about this community," Mach said. "But with my kids now in school full time, I felt this was a good time to move on.

            "Working for the Chamber has given me the opportunity to do so much… I always said that businesses get out of the Chamber what they put into it. I feel the same way for myself."

            Mach said she will stay on with the Chamber until she finds another position or until the Chamber hires someone to take over, and would be willing to work with the new person during a transition period. She said that she would stay with the Chamber no later than December 20, and if she found another position in the meantime, would give them two weeks notice.
