Man escapes burning vehicle

A St. Peter man escaped a burning car on Wednesday afternoon, April 3, 2013, shortly after 3 p.m.

David Filan, 66, of St. Peter, was traveling westbound on Le Sueur County Road 99 when he noticed the engine of his 1997 Pontiac Bonneville began to loose power.
According to Le Sueur County Sheriff, Tom Doherty, Filan said he pulled over to the side of the road, just west of the Highway 13 intersection, and was alerted by a passing motorist who saw flames coming from the vehicle.
Le Sueur County Dispatch was alerted via a 911 call and Le Sueur County Deputies, Montgomery Police Officers and the Montgomery Fire and Rescue Departments were dispatched to the location.
Doherty said, upon arrival, they found the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.
“The vehicle fire was extinguished by the Montgomery Fire and Rescue, and the vehicle was considered a total loss,” Doherty said. “Mr. Filan was the lone occupant of the vehicle and he sustained no injuries from the vehicle fire.”
The vehicle was towed by Roadrunner Towing.
