Man killed at CapX work site - updated

 

One worker was killed and another injured Wednesday morning, Aug. 14, in an accident at a CapX2020 power line foundation north of New Prague. The incident happened along Scott County Road 2.
At 8:50 a.m. the New Prague Fire Department was called to the scene between Drexel Avenue and Highway 21.
According to Randy Fordice, Project Communications Specialist with Great River Energy/CapX2020, the two men, who work for Aldridge Electric, were working along the outside of a 50-foot hole.
Capt. Jeff Swedin of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office said the men were on a platform, which apparently broke. The men fell onto rebar that is part of the foundation. One man was brought up with injuries and firefighters worked to bring the other man up. North Memorial Air Ambulance was called in to provide transportation. Around 10 a.m. the man was pronounced dead at the scene due to head injuries. North Memorial Ambulance transported the other man to Mayo Clinic Health System in New Prague.
The New Prague Police  and Scott County Sheriff’s Department and Minnesota State Patrol were also on site.
