Marcy (Marcella) Bigaouette, 78, formerly of Lonsdale and New Prague, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, in Arizona, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Marcy was born in Lonsdale on November 1, 1931, a daughter of Joe and Mary Vasko, and grew up outside of New Prague. Her parents were married in Czechoslovakia in 1929. She could only speak Czech as a child, and learned English in the 1st grade (she helped her mother learn English). She graduated from New Prague High School in 1950.
