Margaret Hager, 86

Margaret R. Hager, 86, of Waseca, died on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Lake Shore Inn of Waseca.

Margaret Rose was born on September 30, 1925, in Mankato, a daughter of William and Katherine (Biedscheid) Bohnert. She attended Ss. Peter and Paul grade school and graduated from Loyola High School in Mankato. She worked at International Harvester Company as a billing and accounts receivable clerk. Margaret moved to Waseca in 1951, where she worked as a bookkeeper at Osmundson Motors. She married Harvey Schroeder on October 16, 1954. He died in July 1960. She then met Francis Hager in 1963, and they were married on February 8, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Margaret then worked for Webb Oil Company, and later EF Johnson Company. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, and watching her grandchildren grow up.

She is survived by her husband; children Gary (Mary) Hager, Detroit Lakes, and Jane (Mike) Shorter, Lonsdale; four grandchildren Joe Hager, Detroit Lakes, and Emily, Amanda and Allison Shorter, Lonsdale; a sister Mary Baynes, Mankato; sisters-in-law Phyllis Bohnert, Rosemount, Dorothy Bohnert, Mankato, and Betty Miller, Lake City; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters and six brothers; and by her first husband.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, March 20, at 1:30 p.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with Rev. Marty Schaefer officiating. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca, and continued Tuesday for one hour prior to services. A parish prayer service was held Monday evening at the funeral home.
