Marian Giesen, 84
Marian J. Giesen, 84, of Green Isle, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at her home.
Born on November 3, 1926 in New Prague, Marion was a daughter of William and Mary (Snorek) Bisek. She grew up in New Prague and married Melvin Giesen on June 17, 1948, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. They later moved to the Green Isle area. Her family was the joy of her life, and she worked hard as a wife and mother to 17 children.
She is survived by 14 children Mary (John) Sylwester, Minneapolis, Mike (Sharon) Giesen, Belle Plaine, Maury (Dawn) Giesen, Henderson, Vic Giesen, Green Isle, Jerome (Jayne) Giesen, Belle Plaine, Carol (Neil) Skiba, Stacy, Allan (Robin) Giesen, Arlington, Ruth (Roger) Kruger, Hayfield, Polly (Andy) McCullough, Houston, TX, Matt (Jan) Giesen, Arlington, Jan (Barry) Burkhartzmeyer, West Linn, OR, Nick (Larysa) Giesen, Waconia, Andy (Teresa) Giesen, Glencoe, and Amy (Chad) Molva, Norwood Young America; 34 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons Martin William and Martin Matthias; and daughter Ann Giesen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 10, at St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Green Isle, with Rev. Jerry Paulson officiating.
Interment will be at St. Brendan's Catholic Cemetery in Green Isle.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington, and also one hour prior to the service time on Thursday at the church.
