Marion Parkos, 96

Marion F. Parkos, 96, of Bigfork, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at the Northern Itasca Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague with Rev. John Parkos officiating.

Interment will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague.

Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Marion was born November 18, 1911, in New Prague, daughter of Frank J. and Mary Barbara (Simota) Parkos. She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and was a 1929 graduate of New Prague High School. She graduated magna cum laude from the College of St. Theresa, Winona, in 1935, and obtained her M.A. from the University of Minnesota in 1938. She taught Latin, French, Spanish and English for 41 years in Waseca, Benson, Little Falls, and Fairmont. She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, Bigfork; formerly with St. John Vianney Church, Council of Catholic Women, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and H.O.P.E., all in Fairmont.

She is survived by a niece Mary Lou (Charles) Dobihal, Big Fork; a nephew Father John Francis Parkos, Roseville; one grandniece, five grandnephews, 15 great-grandnieces and two great-grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Francis and George; and sister-in-law Eleanor Louise Parkos.
