Mary Frejlach, 100

Mary Julia Frejlach, age 100, of Faribault, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at her daughter's home in West St. Paul, after a brief illness.

Mary was born on June 9, 1910, in Veseli, a daughter of Wencl and Rose (Kokes) Sticha. On September 24, 1929, she married Walter Frejlach at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli. They resided in Lonsdale for 20 years and moved to Faribault in 1948. Walter preceded her in death in May 1975. Mary's main passion in life was cooking. She spent 30 years as cook at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Faribault. During those years, she cooked for many weddings, parties and other gatherings, which led her to make many friendships she truly cherished. Mary retired at the age of 90. Her other pleasures were her yard and garden of flowers, fruits and vegetables. She was given the opportunity in June to celebrate her 100th birthday with many joyful events, including going to a Minnesota Twins game with her family. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Knights of Columbus Post 889 Ladies Auxiliary and the Faribault Aerie 1460 Eagles Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by daughters Grace McDonald, West St. Paul, Shirley Heyer, Roseville and Kathleen McDonald, Lakeville; seven grandchildren Jon (Teri) Heyer, Ann (Maurice) White Eagle, Bradley Heyer, Peter (Lisa) Heyer, Nick (Amy) Heyer, Patrick (Amy) McDonald and Tim (Jennifer) McDonald; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; siblings Bill Sticha, Josephine Graff and Bessie Tupy; and son-in-law Marv Heyer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 20, at 1 p.m., at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault, with Rev. Kevin Finnegan officiating.

Interment will be at St. John Cemetery in Veseli.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Bethlehem Academy, Divine Mercy Catholic Church, or to donor's choice.
